Holiday Giveaway-Orange Mud VP2

Next up on My Favorite Gear Holiday Giveaway is the Orange Mud HydraQuiver Vest Pack 2! No doubt you've seen me sporting this hydration pack for the last few years, and it's still going strong. Now it's your chance to WIN one just like mine!

I've been a huge advocate of Orange Mud for years. They pour so much thought into each item, from the hydration packs to the clothing. The designers at Orange Mud have years of experience in running, biking, and literally everything in between. And the dedication they put into their gear shows. They know what everyone from the elites to the everyday athlete needs, and put each design through a rigorous test before releasing it.

I I've had my Orange Mud Vest Pack 2 for about 3-4 years now. And still use it regularly to this day. The quality of their gear is absolutely outstanding. I've since accumulated quite the collection of different packs, but the Vest Pack 2 will always be my personal favorite. And that's why I've chosen it for this giveaway.

So what makes this Orange Mud pack so special? I could write a novel on why I love this piece of gear, but I'll keep it short and simple:
  • Bottles vs Bladder. Bladders are great, but annoying at times. Orange Mud does have a bladder pack that's amazing (the Endurance Pack), but sometimes you just want something different and innovative like the Vest Pack.
    • Bottles mean you can have one with electrolytes and the other with just water. Alternating between both on the run.
    • Easier to clean and refill while running or racing!
    • Bottles on the back mean you can remain hands free.
    • Running/hiking with your dog(s) mean one bottle for you... one for them!
  • Pockets. I'm a pack rat on my runs, especially my long runs. The Orange Mud Vest Pack 2 has a total of FOUR pockets on the front. I carry my keys, phone, and tons of fuel with me and STILL have plenty of places to store extra stuff.
  • Adjustability. The straps on both the back and the front allow for fine-tuning the perfect fit.
  • No Chafing! That's right. I have never chafed in the years I've worn my Orange Mud Vest Pack 2. It sits higher on your back then other hydration packs and distributes the weight evenly. Combined with super breathable medical grade mesh, and sometimes I even forget I'm wearing it.

I get a lot of questions about this pack, so I'll answer a few of the most common to convince you that the Orange Mud VP2 would make the perfect Christmas gift--for that runner on your list or, for YOUR holiday wish list, because...why not treat yourself?!
  • Doesn't it bounce? Nope. Straight and simple answer to this one. Once you've got it on snug it stays put and secure.
  • Isn't it tough to put the bottles back while running? The placement of the holders are in the perfect spot (the designers tested this to get it just right). So often I don't even have to think about placing them. I just aim in the general location and it slides into place like a glove.
  • It looks like it will chafe on the armpits? The fit does take some getting used to, but that doesn't mean it chafes. It fits unlike any other hydration pack (this is a good thing). Once you adjust the fit to your liking, it won't bounce but will be secure under your armpits and won't pinch or rub. I've know guys to wear this pack shirtless and girls to wear it with a tank.

And for you ladies, don't worry, I know plenty of female runners who LOVE the Orange Mud Vest Pack 2 as well! Don't believe me? Check out these reviews on the VP2 from female runners:

Sizing Note for the Ladies: The Orange Mud Double Barrel HydraQuiver may be a better option for ladies if you have a... um... "large chest". If you're under a 27" chest this pack will likely be too big. Anywhere between 27" and 52" generally fits great!

  6. I got a single barrel a couple of years ago at your recommendation :) and I love it. Everytime my daughters and I go hiking at Skyline Park in Buckeye I use it but seriously would benefit from a double barrel for this hike as a single is just now enough water in the AZ heat.
